All food was lawful for the youngsters of Israel, except what Israel1 made unlawful for himself before the Torah was revealed.2 Say, ?O Prophet,? “Bring the Torah and skim it, if your claims are true.”
the Clear Quran
All food was lawful to the kids of Israel except what Israel [i.e., Jacob] had made unlawful to himself before the Torah was revealed. Say, [O Mu?ammad], "So bring the Torah and recite it, if you should be truthful."

the Clear Quran
And whoever invents about Allah untruth then - then those are [truly] the wrongdoers.
Say, ?O Prophet,? “Allah has declared the truth. So follow the Way of Abraham, the upright—who wasn't a polytheist.”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Say, "Allah has told the truth. So follow the faith of Abraham, inclining toward truth; and he wasn't of the polytheists.? ? ? ? ? ?

In it are clear signs and therefore the standing-place of Abraham. Whoever enters it should be safe. Pilgrimage to the present home is an obligation by Allah upon whoever is in a position among the people.1 And whoever disbelieves, then surely Allah isn't in need of ?any of His? creation.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
In it are clear signs [such as] the standing place of Abraham. And whoever enters it [i.e., the ?aram] shall be safe. And [due] to Allah from the people may be a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is in a position to seek out thereto how . But whoever disbelieves [i.e., refuses] - then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.1
— Saheeh International
3:98

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Say, "O People of the Scripture, why does one disbelieve within the verses of Allah while Allah is Witness over what you do?"
— Saheeh International
3:99
Say, “O People of the Book! Why does one turn the believers faraway from the Way of Allah—striving to form it ?appear? crooked, while you are witnesses ?to its truth?? And Allah isn't unaware of what you are doing .”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Say, "O People of the Scripture, why does one avert from the way of Allah those that believe, seeking to form it [seem] deviant, while you're witnesses [to the truth]? And Allah isn't unaware of what you are doing ."
— Saheeh International

O believers! If you were to yield to a gaggle of these who got the Scripture, they might turn you back from belief to disbelief.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
O you who have believed, if you obey a celebration of these who got the Scripture, they might turn you back, after your belief, [to being] unbelievers.
— Saheeh International
3:101
How are you able to disbelieve when Allah’s revelations are recited to you and His Messenger is in your midst? Whoever holds firmly to Allah is unquestionably guided to the Straight Path.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And how could you disbelieve while to you're being recited the verses of Allah and among you is His Messenger? And whoever holds firmly to Allah1 has [indeed] been guided to a straight path.
— Saheeh International
3:102
O believers! Be mindful of Allah in the way He deserves,1 and do not die except in ?a state of full? submission ?to Him?.2
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and don't die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
— Saheeh International

And hold firmly to the rope of Allah1 and don't be divided. Remember Allah’s favour upon you once you were enemies, then He united your hearts, so you—by His grace—became brothers. And you were at the brink of a fiery pit and He saved you from it. This is how Allah makes His revelations clear to you, in order that you'll be ?rightly? guided.

And hold firmly to the rope1 of Allah all at once and don't become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - once you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the sting of a pit of the hearth , and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah explain to you His verses that you simply could also be guided.

The titles of the stories too inspire a way of foreboding: “On the sting ,” “The Trap,” “The Orbit of Confusion,” and therefore the eponymous story, “The Curse.” If one were to spot Salma, the author of this story collection, with a specific literary concern, it might be this: women and domestic spaces that are transformed into suffocating epicentres of conflict. After all, The Hour Past Midnight (in Lakshmi Holmstrom’s translation) had gained recognition for the way during which it delved into the mundane darkness of the lives of its protagonists and therefore the domestic spaces they inhabit. The stories within the Curse, curated and translated by N Kalyan Raman, follow this genealogy. Take, for instance , the setting of “Toilets”. Shamim, the protagonist, takes her aunt to the hospital because she has pa...
